adriano3Without a shadow of a doubt the name of this round of the Brasileirão is Adriano.

Above the ideal weight, out of technical and physical shape – but overflowing with the joy for the game and the passion that he felt it had disappeared in Italy. The doctors, the commentators, the coach – everybody was saying the same thing: He can handle 30 minutes, 45 max. He is going in only to start getting some of the rhythm of the game back.

Then Josiel self-medicated and was prohibited of playing the game – and they had to have Adriano as a starter. He played the game – the whole 90 minutes, without compromising himself or the team. Until the last moment he was actively participating of the game – and scored a typical striker goal (oh, how much I missed those) at the 44 seconds of the second half.

In other news, Internacional won again (Inter 2×1 Avaí) and there were way too many ties. Vitória is having a great beggining of the tournament with another victory (they won three of the four games so far and are right behind Inter in second place. Corinthians suffered a crushing defeat against Santos (3×1), proving that without Ronaldo the team is quite weak. And São Paulo seems to have woken up and got its first victory in the tournament (3×0) against Cruzeiro. Goiás was the only visiting team to win a game. (Coritiba 1×3 Goiás).

Coritiba 1×3 Goiás
Atlético-MG 0x0 Santo André
Botafogo 2×2 Sport
Náutico 1×1 Fluminense
Santos 3×1 Corinthians
São Paulo 3×0 Cruzeiro
Vitória 1×0 Grêmio
Flamengo 2×1 Atlético-PR
Barueri 2×2 Palmeiras
Internacional 2×1 Avaí

…All the while, in Flamengo….

The Maracanã hosted the best attended game so far in the tournament, with over 71.000 people coming to see Adriano once again wear the Holy Shroud – Flamengo’s Jersey.

*This is a parody of a oldschool Funk Carioca song. The lyrics are:

Parody

Original

“All I want is to be happy,

All I want is to be happy

Peacefully walk in the favela I was born

Peacefully walk in the favela I was born

And be able to be proud

And be able to be proud

of knowing Flamengo is my home.

of knowing that the poor also have a home.

The Favela - the other place where Adriano is happy.
